COMMUNITY ACTIVATION

Tech Tourney

Tech Tourney is more than a tournament—it’s a day where culture, competition, and creativity collide. Powered by StreetCode Academy, this first-of-its-kind event was built for the community by the community. It’s where hoopers, tech builders, families, and supporters all show up for the same reason: to be part of something that celebrates who we are and where we’re going.

But launching a brand-new signature event requires more than an idea—it takes vision, structure, and flawless execution.

That’s where Honey & Hive founder, Caitlin, came in.

building a first-of-its-kind community experience

In 2025, StreetCode Academy set out to launch Tech Tourney—an event blending basketball culture with hands-on tech experiences, celebrity appearances, and community celebration.

They needed an experienced partner to bring cross-department coordination, marketing strategy, and event operations together in one seamless plan. The goal wasn’t just to pull off a one-day event—it was to create a community anchor and a repeatable model for years to come.

the services behind the success

Honey & Hive became an extension of StreetCode Academy’s team, shaping the systems, strategy, and execution that made Tech Tourney a success. Our work included:

  • Established weekly milestone reviews and daily touchpoints in the final stretch; created trackers, recap notes, and ownership clarity to keep all teams aligned.

  • Designed messaging, promotional materials, and outreach campaigns that drove community buzz and strong attendance.

  • Coordinated with 20+ technology partners and sponsors, ensuring deliverables, visibility, and smooth activation experiences.

  • Managed logistics and engagement for seven celebrity guests to maximize their community impact and visibility.

  • Recruited, trained, and directed 50+ volunteers across registration, tech activations, and game-day logistics.

  • Oversaw week-of and day-of operations—including venue setup, security, tech exhibit installs, silent auction, and live programming transitions.

real strategies. real impact. real results.

"I worked closely with Caitlin on StreetCode’s first annual Tech Tourney, and I genuinely loved working with her. She set a steady rhythm that kept the whole team aligned and energized. We had a weekly check-in to track milestones, surface risks, and make decisions. In the final stretch, she added short daily touchpoints so no one was blocked. Every meeting had a tight agenda, clear owners, and dates. She captured decisions in quick recap notes and updated a shared tracker so everyone could see status at a glance.

Caitlin coordinated across Tech Exhibit, venue operations, volunteer operations, registration, and the silent auction. She kept each group focused on the right deliverables for the week, and she was great at spotting dependencies early and getting the right people talking. When priorities shifted, she calmly resequenced tasks, reset expectations, and ensured people had what they needed to move forward.

Her crisp and kind communication kept the StreetCode team confident and informed. I would work with Caitlin again in a heartbeat!"
